Wow! What a crazy, busy spring & summer it has been.... I've had so much going on that I'm not sure whether I'm coming or going...It's kind of scary to think I'm looking forward to Miss Cayce's opening and being restrained by a schedule....Did I really say that? I know it was just last week (January) that Becky, most of the staff and I went to Market and bought all the new "Stuff" that has now come in and is overflowing in every direction! It's not very obvious that we cut back like our husbands told us to, but I must say that as I dashed into work a few days & nights (in between coming and going) that we did it again!

Every year I think it's the best it' ever been and this year (that would be #25) is no exception!

As I looked around the store, amongst all the organized chaos of boxes, our 2009 Christmas themes were coming together and taking on a life of their own. It's sort of like being a writer and having these characters in your head all trying to get out with their own story to tell. The merchandise we purchase is like that, we see so much to choose from yet somehow Becky and I sort through all of it (mostly by the seat of our pants) and pick just the right items to tell a story to sell! I love that part -the buying!

Then we come in and plan the store/stage...It will take background ingredients, platforms, props, costumes, etc. to provide just the right set for our merchandising characters to come alive. I'm crazy about this part too...In fact it's my favorite...displaying to sell!!!

Every year the walls change, wallpaper & paint happens, a new piece of furniture gets found, and our Dad builds something like a mantle or barn front! Amy and Tammy built a doghouse and goal post for the pet and sport's tree!

Wow, this is hard work but so creatively challenging and fun! I can't wait for ya'll to see the store!!
